Welcome friends! My name is Akela, but my friends call me Kale. I graduated from the University of Louisville with a degree in Biology and I am currently a Masters student in the University of South Alabama Marine and Environmental Science program with the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. I created this site in 2020 to share my two biggest passions in life: sustainability and food. For me, there is no denying the joy that diving into a burger or a plate of fried chicken brings. But the food industry has such a huge impact on the environment that I felt it was time to make a lifestyle change. I thought it was fitting to challenge myself to a more sustainable lifestyle that fully encapsulated my love for tasty food and science. Join me as I develop and adapt easy and delicious recipes that support our planet (and prove vegetarian meals don’t have to be boring) one plate at a time. If I can do it, you can do it!
If nothing else, check out this YouTube video. It has reliable and researched information that articulately summarizes everything you need to know about how your diet can affect climate change.
